Did you know? East Boston used to be 5 separate islands until landfill turned all 5 into one land mass.

Did you know? The Kennedy family has roots in East Boston. JFK’s great grandfather moved to the neighborhood first living on Meridian street, and later moving their family to Monmouth Street.

 
 

Did You Know? While transportation between downtown and East Boston is incredibly quick and easy now, it wasn’t always like that? In 1834 East Boston had a suspension railway built allowing commuters to go to and from the city. This system lasted a total of 9 days.

Rino’s Place is a family-owned Eastie staple for Italian cuisine for 24 years now. Angela’s Cafe is another family-owned restaurant that’s been an Eastie favorite, offering breakfast, lunch, and dinner for many  years. The taste of the south-central Mexican state is infused in their unique dishes like the signature Mole Poblano de Angela. We also love Angela’s for more familiar Mexican cuisine like Enchiladas, Tacos, and chicken Sopa de Pozole.

Reel House boasts of one of the best - if not THE actual best - patios in the city. They offer gorgeous views of the Boston skyline and harbor along with their globally-inspired menu. Enjoy your fresh seafood and handmade cocktails by the water. For an added unique experience, take the water taxi from  Downtown Boston directly to their doorstep.

The Eastie pizzeria that has achieved the coveted legendary status, Santarpio’s Pizza is one of the reasons foodies visit East Boston. The no-frills dining room offers huge, moderately priced pies with dozens of possible topping combos. On the non-pizza front, they have steak tips, lamb skewers, and homemade sausage served up with hot cherry peppers and fresh-baked Italian bread.
